Mcilroy melts in Augusta heat but should take plenty of positives...

So it all ended in heartbreak for Rory Mcilroy last night after a triple bogey on the tenth, where he quite literally sent the ball round the houses, put pay to his chances of becoming the second youngest winner to ever don the green jacket.

After watching his beloved Ulster lose in the Heineken cup hours earlier, it was a day that young Rory will want to forget as soon as possible. However once the raw heartbreak and bitter disappointment fades away into time, it should be a week from which an awful lot is took. His composure in the first 56 holes was that befitting someone twice his age and combined with some stunning shot choices and delivery, it is clear that Mcilroy will have tilts at majors some time again soon.

The fact that he was so close, still leading at the turn remember, will be hard to take. But it should also encourage.

Britain, and indeed Northern Ireland in particular, could well see another Major Champion this season.
